President Donald Trump spoke at a rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, on Monday night, where he addressed high gas prices and the ongoing war with Iran, which threatens his chances in the upcoming midterm elections.

Also, he spoke surprisingly casually about the possibility of a nuclear attack on Los Angeles or San Diego.

“With the war it’s just artificial, it’s a little bit high, it’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe. They could take out a city. Let ‘em take out Los Angeles. Let ‘em take out San Diego,” Trump said, as the crowd cheered. “This is a very small price to pay, and it’s going to be over very soon. It’s essentially almost over with.”

Trump has frequently said in recent weeks that the Iran War, whether it means higher gas prices or not, is worth it just to keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. He stated it not very artfully, but Trump was implying that Iran will take out those California cities unless he stops them.

He has not, however, typically talked about Iran taking out specific American cities. Especially not Los Angeles, which hosts the United States’ largest community of exiles from Iran, or San Diego, which has a large military personnel presence.

Social media users had a lot to say about Trump’s declaration, which is certainly not a normal thing to say at a political rally:
