While traveling on Monday, Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President JD Vance, nearly took a spill while exiting a helicopter while holding her baby son.

According to the New York Post, it happened at Joint Base Andrews, as the Second Lady had the couple’s baby son “strapped to her chest in a baby carrier and a diaper bag flung over her shoulder, had one hand on the railing and another on the baby’s head when she appeared to miss a step near the bottom of the stairs.”

Usha was able to steady herself, and per the Post, “four service members on the tarmac of Joint Base Andrews looked on as Usha quickly reached for the second railing and somehow managed to regain her balance.”

The family was headed on a long flight to Alaska, where the vice president is set to stump for Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK).

The vice president, before the trip, had stated that “Usha and a couple of the kids are joining. This is Usha’s 50th state, which is why we are bringing a nine week old baby on a seven and a half hour flight to Alaska… So if I give a speech tonight and I looked haggard and stressed out, that’s exactly why.”

Many social media users noticed that the service members didn’t seem to make any moves to help the Second Lady, when it appeared she might fall down the stairs while holding a baby.
