Not long ago, we reported that Donald Trump’s finances are effectively swirling the toilet, as his legal woes continue to mount from every conceivable direction. And frankly, how could they not be? The former president is being hit with lawsuits, court orders, depositions, and increasingly serious accusations and investigations at every turn now — all of which require extensive legal representation that he’s apparently struggling to even find these days — as all his crimes begin to crash down around him now that he no longer enjoys the protections of the presidency.

Axios recently reported on new filings with the Federal Election Commission that show Donald Trump’s Save America political action committee (PAC) has spent a staggering $1 million in legal fees — all in just the month of July ALONE. And that’s not even counting the portions of the bills that the Republican National Committee has been footing on the scandal-ridden former guy’s behalf.

But to be completely frank, Trump has long had a tumultuous relationship with staggering legal fees and a resounding reluctance to actually pay the bills he owes.

Now, according to yet another bombshell tell-all book hitting the shelves, we’ve found out that the former president actually went so far in trying to weasel his way out of a legal bill that he offered a disgruntled, unpaid attorney the deed to a horse that he owned, rather than paying off the $2 million in legal fees he owed the lawyer.

The news comes out of a report from The Guardian on the new Trump tell-all book, Servants of the Damned: Giant Law Firms, Donald Trump and the Corruption of Justice, by New York Times’ David Enrich, telling the story of a quite awkward face to face meeting between Trump and an attorney who he owed a mountain of money to and was left flabbergasted and infuriated by Trump’s attempt to settle the bill with a horse.

The Guardian’s Martin Pengelly reports on the book’s revelation, claiming the unidentified attorney was owed a whopping $2 million in legal fees from Donald Trump, pre-presidency, that ultimately led to a surprise confrontation between the two at Donald’s Trump Tower, where the angered attorney burst out, “‘I’m incredibly disappointed. There’s no reason you haven’t paid us.”

Enrich writes, “Trump made some apologetic noises. Then he said: ‘I’m not going to pay your bill. I’m going to give you something more valuable.’ What on earth is he talking about? the lawyer wondered. ‘I have a stallion,’ Trump continued. ‘It’s worth $5m.’ Trump rummaged around in a filing cabinet and pulled out what he said was a deed to a horse. He handed it to the lawyer.”

Enrich’s book claims Donald’s offer was far from well-received by the infuriated, unpaid attorney and was instead met with the threat of a lawsuit if Trump didn’t pay up what was owed to him.

Ultimately, according to the tell-all, Trump caved and “eventually coughed up at least a portion of what he owed.”
