Trump Said He Almost Didn’t Want To Dispute Insider’s Testimony About Alleged Physical Incident With Secret Service On Jan. 6th, Because He Thought The Allegations Made Him Sound Tough

Why doesn't this even surprise me?

Over the summer Cassidy Hutchinson, the former senior aide to Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, delivered what shaped up to be one of the most brutal, bombshell public testimonies before the January 6th House Select Committee during their public explosive public hearings that we have seen to date.

Included in her damning, under-oath testimony, were secondhand allegations that, upon learning that he would not be permitted to march to the US Capitol with his mob of rabid supporters on January 6th, Trump had a heated, visceral reaction that resulted in the then-president allegedly lunging at one of his Secret Service agents, grabbing the steering wheel of the SUV dubbed “The Beast,” and demanding that he be taken to the Capitol building, where his followers would go on to engage in a violent insurrection on that fateful day.

Trump was pretty quick to dispute Cassidy’s claims, following her brutal testimony. However, during his new speech this week, he openly admitted that he almost didn’t want to publicly refute the allegations of the physical confrontation with his Secret Service agent, because he felt like the claims made him look and sound like a “physically tough” guy.

The former president’s remarks came during his speech at the Hispanic Leadership Conference, organized by America First Works, and while he didn’t mention Meadows’ former aide by name, he railed against “this one very sick individual” before going on to recount the details of Hutchinson’s January 6th public hearing testimony.

“If you listen to this one very sick individual, in order to get the Secret Service to take me to the Capitol, I grabbed one around the neck,” he said, prompting laughter from his audience in a ballroom at the InterContinental Miami. “I almost didn’t want to dispute it, because a lot of people said, ‘I never knew you were that physically tough.'”

“If I had grabbed him around the neck, I would have been in very serious trouble,” Donald went on to add, before calling the story included in Hutchinson’s testimony, “phony.”

During Cassidy’s explosive testimony before the panel, she claimed that White House Deputy Chief of Staff Tony Ornato told her about the physical incident between the then-president and the Secret Service agent immediately after it happened.

Hutchinson testified that Trump “said something to the effect of, ‘I’m the effing president, take me up to the Capitol now,’ to which Bobby responded, ‘Sir, we have to go back to the West Wing.'” She was referencing the head of Donald Trump’s protective detail, Bobby Engel.

“The president reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mr. Engel grabbed his arm, said, ‘Sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel, we’re going back to the West Wing, we’re not going to the Capitol.’ Mr. Trump then used his free hand to lunge towards Bobby Engel,” the former Meadows aide testified, adding that when Ornato “recounted the story to me, he had motioned towards his clavicles.”

There has been a lot of skepticism and disputes over Cassidy’s claims since her bombshell testimony.
