The coronavirus cases in Arizona are spiking as health officials reported yet another record number of people contracted COVID-19 on the same day Donald Trump traveled to the state to visit the nation’s southern border and speak at a MAGA rally. The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 3,591 new coronavirus cases and 42 related deaths.

And yet, President Smart Brain said during his visit to the state that his southern border wall “stopped COVID” even though Arizona is reporting a record-high number of confirmed cases. The border wall “stopped COVID, it stopped everything,” he said before heading from a briefing to see a section of the barrier, according to The Independent.

Watch:

Hospitalizations have exceeded the 2,000 mark for the first time in the state amid the coronavirus pandemic, with 2,136 beds occupied by suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients on Monday, compared with 1,992 hospitalizations the previous day.

Health officials told the Arizona Republic that hospitals might not have sufficient staff to take care of more COVID-19 patients.

“Even the current staff taking care of COVID patients, as COVID patients have increased, hospitals are just really worried about staff fatigue in those front-line workers,” said Ann-Marie Alameddin, president and CEO of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association.

On Tuesday, Trump insisted he was serious when he revealed that he had directed his administration to slow down coronavirus testing.

“I don’t kid. Let me just tell you. Let me make it clear,” Trump told reporters after he was pressed on whether his comments at the MAGA rally in Tulsa, Okla., were intended as a joke — remarks which his own administration claimed were tongue-in-cheek.

Structures do not deter diseases. Donald Trump, though, is more concerned with structures than he is with this country’s population. The guy won’t even wear a face mask to protect others and to lead by example.

The president has routinely offered up dangerous rhetoric, but to say that his ego-wall has stopped COVID-19 proves once again that Trump is not capable of leading this country through the national crisis.
