While Hillary Clinton is living her best life while not being locked up, federal prosecutors recommended that Trump confidant Roger Stone serve seven to nine years in prison for crimes that include obstruction of justice, lying to Congress, and witness tampering. The 67-year-old is one of several Trump associates to be indicted as a result of the Robert Mueller investigation. That didn’t sit well with Donald Trump as he unleashed a tweet at nearly 2:00 a.m. that hints at a possible pardon.
“This is a horrible and very unfair situation,” Trump tweeted. “The real crimes were on the other side, as nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!”

US Attorney for the District of Columbia Timothy Shea, a former close adviser to Attorney General William Barr, wrote in a sentencing memo released Monday that “Stone’s lies to Congress and his obstructive conduct are a direct and brazen attack on the rule of law.”

“Stone knew the gravity of the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation when he obstructed it by giving false testimony and tampering with a witness,” Shea continued. “Indeed, Stone acknowledged as much in his opening statement before the Committee. Stone chose — consciously, repeatedly, and flagrantly — to obstruct and interfere with the search for the truth on an issue of vital importance to all Americans.”
The president also shared several other tweets that blasted the announcement.
Stone, a self-described “Dirty Trickster,” was found guilty in November on seven counts, including lying to Congress in regards to his efforts to learn more about when WikiLeaks would publish damaging emails about 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
In mid-November Trump tweeted after his longtime associate was found guilty.
“So they now convict Roger Stone of lying and want to jail him for many years to come,” Trump tweeted at the time. “Well, what about Crooked Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Page, McCabe, Brennan, Clapper, Shifty Schiff, Ohr & Nellie, Steele & all of the others, including even Mueller himself? Didn’t they lie?”
