Former Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan has no love for Donald Trump left, and the big guy is pissed about it.
The Wisconsin Republican and GOP House Speaker from 2015 to 2019 hasn’t exactly boasted a close relationship with the now disgraced former president, despite working under Donald’s administration for the first two years. But things got even more dramatic still between the pair after Ryan made it crystal clear that he does not want the 2024 Republican presidential nomination to end up in Trump’s lap.
Ryan’s pointedly anti-Trump remarks came during an interview with Milwaukee-based television news station WISN-TV over the weekend, in which the former House Speaker made it very clear that he would not be attending the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) — set to be held in the critical swing state of Wisconsin’s largest city of Milwaukee — if scandal-ridden former President Donald Trump ends up the GOP nominee.
When pressed in the interview over whether or not he plans to attend the monumental event, Ryan responded that it would depend “on who the nominee is.”

“I’ll be here if it’s not somebody named Trump,” the former Republican House leader assured.

The scandal-ridden former president took to his struggling Truth Social platform and launched an all-out attack against Paul Ryan, blaming the Wisconsin Republican for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential loss — Ryan served as Romney’s running mate and the pair lost to President Barack Obama’s re-election.
“Paul Ryan is a loser,” Trump fumed in the Truth Social post, “Mitt Romney could have won without him. I won twice, did much better the second time, and was 233 Wins out of 253 Races in the Midterms. Paul Ryan is destroying Fox, and couldn’t get elected dogcatcher in the Republican Party!” It seems the former president was sure to pay homage to his own incessant election lies.
Ryan has served as one of several Republicans that Trump has dubbed a “RINO” (Republican in name only) — a list of Trump defectors that’s only growing daily at this point — and has long been advocating for the party to move away from the disgraced ex-president and his constant stream of scandals and legal peril.
