Trump Unloads On Kaitlan Collins In Unhinged Personal Tirade

In an interview published Thursday, Trump told Time magazine that CNN’s Kaitlan Collins is “a very average person” and “the most unhappy young person I’ve ever seen,” the latest in a long line of personal attacks on the journalist.

The remarks came as part of a broader complaint about press coverage. “I never get fair press,” he said. “Doesn’t have to be good. All it has to be is fair. So at a certain point, you say, ‘What’s the purpose of like this crazy Kaitlan Collins?'” He added that he could “name 100 great things I’ve done” without getting credit, insisting that even his biggest achievements “will only write badly” once reporters get hold of them.

Asked about his decision to bar CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, a move a federal judge has since paused, he made clear he wasn’t changing course. “They are just horrible people, and they’re so bad,” he said. “So I believe in a free press. I believe in an honest press, but I don’t believe in fake news.”

Collins has been a frequent target for Trump. He has called her “stupid and nasty” in a Truth Social post, misspelling her name, and labeled her a “nasty person” during a CNN town hall.

He has also complained that she “never smiles,” part of a broader pattern of focusing on female journalists’ appearance or demeanor rather than their reporting.

Other women covering the White House have faced similar treatment. Bloomberg’s Catherine Lucey was told to be “quiet, piggy” after asking about Jeffrey Epstein.

CBS News’ Nancy Cordes was called “a stupid person” on Thanksgiving, and The New York Times’ Katie Rogers was described as “ugly, both inside and out” a day earlier.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper defended Collins after one of Trump’s posts, laying out a bulleted list on X correcting several of his claims point by point.

Collins, for her part, has largely avoided engaging, saying on The New Yorker podcast that she handles the hostility “with grace” and continues doing her job.
