This year has been the weirdest year of our lifetimes, and I’m pretty sure none of us had Sen. Mitt Romney marching with Black Lives Matter protesters on our 2020 Plague Bingo card, but here we are — and it’s a beautiful sight to see. Unless, of course, you’re Donald Trump, the petty president who is still upset that the Utah Republican voted to impeach his corrupt ass. And this president hasn’t extended his hand to protesters to try to understand the suffering that African-Americans have had to endure.
Romney joined a group of nearly one thousand Christians marching toward the White House on Sunday, and we’re sure that Trump will take this in a thoughtful manner and reflect on how perhaps he should have responded. OK, that last part won’t happen.
Romney was asked why it was important for him to be out protesting, and the Utah Republican told NBC News: “We need a voice against racism, we need many voices against racism and against brutality. And we need to stand up and say that black lives matter.”

And you probably noticed that Romney wore a protective face mask, and that’s another thing Trump has failed to do as a leader. Next, Romney will take a knee with his fist in the air. This is 2020, after all. With the political climate being so toxic lately due to Trump’s behavior, it’s a wonderful feeling to see one thousand Christians marching against racism. While most evangelicals look past Trump’s appalling behavior, those marching with Romney gives us all some hope.
This was a stirring reminder that country over party exists, and so does good over evil. America deserves better than the current occupant of the White House. After watching Romney march, the murder hornets don’t seem to bother me anymore. Take that, 2020!
