Trump’s Own Aides Reportedly Laughed Off Rumor That Ex-President Would Run For House Speaker Because It’s A “Real Job” That Requires “Actual Work”

He's not about to get a real job.

If you were to asked scandal-ridden GOP House Rep. Matt Gaetz, he’d tell you that the Republican party is going to somehow install former President Donald Trump as House Speaker in 2022 and take over the world, a la Pinky and the Brain style. However, if you were to ask Donald’s own aides who spend day in and day out with him, it seems they would laugh right in your face because Donald Trump isn’t about to work a “real job.”

Michael Wolff’s upcoming book, Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency, an excerpt of which was released in the Times of London this week, tackled the topic of Donald Trump as House Speaker and according to sources within Trump’s circle, that’s just not going to happen.

The idea seemed to get its legs from a recent interview Trump did with conspiracy theorist and far-right radio host Wayne Allyn Root, during which Root suggested that the ex-President should run for Congress in 2022 in Florida, then from there he could go on to take over the House as Speaker and use his position to impeach President Biden, ignite numerous investigations into him, and then run for president again in 2024.

“You become the Speaker of the House, lead the impeachment of Biden and start criminal investigations against Biden,” Root suggested during the interview. “You’ll wipe him out for this last two years.”

At the time, Trump called the idea “so interesting.”

But for Trump’s aides, it just makes them laugh.

Wolff writes, “For Trump aides, though, this was risible. Speaker of the House is a ‘real job,’ and Trump, in no way, is going to actually work.”

As we’re all well aware, even during his time as President of the United States, Trump wasn’t too keen on doing any actual work and instead tended to fill his days with “executive time” according to presidential schedules obtained by Axios in the past. Of course, “executive time” was just instructed time throughout the day that he used to binge-watch cable news, make phone calls, and take meetings.

Trump ultimately dismissed the idea of running for House Speaker, much to Matt Gaetz’s dismay I’m sure, within days of his interview with Root, ultimately telling Fox News host Stuart Varney that it’s “highly unlikely” — probably because he’s not fond on the idea of “real work.”
