In what will go down in history as one of the worst shootings this broken nation has ever seen, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has confirmed that 15 people — 14 young children and 1 teacher — at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school were shot dead this afternoon.
The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District sent out a tweet at 12:17 p.m. CT, confirming that an active shooter was on-site at Robb Elementary School.
There is an active shooter at Robb Elementary. Law enforcement is on site. Your cooperation is needed at this time by not visiting the campus. As soon as more information is gathered it will be shared.
The rest of the district is under a Secure Status.

Governor Abbott has since claimed that the suspected shooter, Salvador Romas, was shot by law enforcement officials and is deceased. However, police in Uvalde claimed that the shooter was in police custody in a Facebook post made on their page.

In a statement on the shooting, Governor Abbott said, “He shot and killed — horrifically, incomprehensibly — 14 students and killed a teacher. [The shooter], he himself is deceased. And it is believed that responding officers killed him.”
The Republican governor claims the suspected gunman was in possession of a handgun and possibly a rifle.
“When parents drop their kids off at school, they have every expectation to know that they’re going to be able to pick their child up when that school day ends. And there are families who are in mourning right now,” Abbott said. “The state of Texas is in mourning with them for the reality that these parents are not going to be able to pick up their children.”
Congressman Tony Gonzales, who represents the area in which the catastrophic shooting took place, released a statement on Twitter, in which he claimed, “I am heartbroken for our South Texas community. It is devastating when our innocent children become the victims of senseless violence. We are devastated.”
“While we monitor this situation, we remember that Uvalde, while rocked by today’s events, is strong and resilient. In this time of trepidation, our office is always here to do whatever we can to help. We are family and we will continue to be here for each other.”
Gonzales concluded his Twitter thread by quoting Matthew 19:14:
Jesus said ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Let us pray together.
Political Tribune has reached out to Congressman Gonzales multiple times in the wake of the devastating Texas elementary school shooting for a statement regarding his tweet that appears to laud the notion that 14 innocent young children have gone to heaven, as a result of unchecked gun violence in this nation.
We would also like to question the Republican Congressman on the juxtaposition of his thoughts, prayers, and Bible verses against these announcements from just last year:
I voted NO on two gun control measures in the House today. I am a proud supporter of the Second Amendment and will do everything I can to oppose gun grabs from the far Left.

The far Left will never stop trying to take Americans’ guns. I am proud to fight for the #2A in Washington. https://t.co/lJHiVeaEpx

When do the lives of innocent children become more important to you, Congressman Gonzales, than “gun grabs” by the “far Left”?
We have yet to receive a response from the congressman, but we will inform readers as new developments become available.
The Robb Elementary School shooting comes less than 2 short weeks after a gunman opened fire in a Buffalo, New York, supermarket, claiming ten lives. This also comes as the Supreme Court weighs the notion of stripping abortion rights from child-bearing individuals in this nation, as Republicans all across the country praise the idea of “pro-life” values.
I ask, where are your pro-life values when it comes to innocent, living, breathing children being gunned down in their classrooms?
