Washington Post Editorial Board Appears To Issue Dire Warning To Republicans Over Impeachment

Their time is coming.

Folks are quickly getting sick of Donald Trump and his GOP’s bullshit — especially in regard to this sham of a Senate impeachment trial they’re attempting to pull off.

While Democrats in the House busted their butts to compile articles of impeachment against Trump that were backed by legitimate investigations, evidence, and witness testimonies, Trump’s band of GOP cronies in the Senate are doing exactly what they promised us all they would as soon at they got their hands on their portion of the process — make sure it goes down in history as nothing more than a circus act.

Republicans have doubled down in their efforts to ensure that there is as little evidence as possible going into the record during their hearings. They’ve refused to accept any new evidence and continue to refuse to call any witnesses as they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that many of them have first-hand knowledge that would bury Donald Trump alive.

But the editorial board at the Washington Post has made it very clear, both to GOP senators as well as Trump himself, that no matter how much they try to throw this whole process, no matter what they try to hide, no matter how far they run, “the hard evidence” will catch up with them, “whether they ignore it or not.”

In a scathing editorial published by the outlet yesterday, the Post’s editorial board warned Trump and his GOP jockeys that Rep. Adam Schiff, along with his co-House impeachment managers had made clear “the hard evidence” to the GOP-controlled Senate that POTUS “used presidential powers to pressure Ukraine into announcing investigations that would aid his reelection campaign, and that he engaged in unprecedented obstruction of Congress’s subsequent investigation.”

“Mr. Schiff pointed out that, whether or not GOP senators demand relevant testimony and documents during the trial, more facts will eventually come out,” the editorial blistered in its conclusion. “Those who choose now to disregard the evidence against Mr. Trump and abet his obstruction will be reduced to watching in the months and years to come as the case against him — and against their abdication of constitutional duty — grows steadily stronger.”

The GOP-controlled Senate can try to toss this whole thing under the rug. They can refuse evidence and ban witness testimonies until Devin Nunes’ cow comes home. But the truth always comes out. That evidence is coming for every single one of them, sooner or later. And frankly, I look forward to the day I get to watch it bite them all in the ass.
