White House Responds To Trump Being Cropped Out Of FIFA’s World Cup Photos — And It’s Pretty Pathetic

FIFA and the Spanish National Team famously posted photos of Spain’s World Cup championship celebration on Sunday that cropped out President Donald Trump, who was lurking nearby.

So the following day, the White House released photos that instead “centered” the president.

According to a report by Mandatory, the White House’s official X account on Monday “shared six photographs from the World Cup final across its social media channels. All six images prominently feature the president. Two of the pictures show Trump as the only person in focus. Meanwhile, just two of the six actually include members of Spain’s football squad.”

When FIFA’s official accounts sent out images from the celebration, Mandatory reported, “one photo capturing Spain’s players leaping in celebration shows only the edge of the president’s navy suit in one corner. The Spanish team’s own Instagram account also shared a triumphant photo immediately after the match that did not include Trump. Nor did a 20-slide post published later that evening featuring different players holding the trophy.”

At the moment when it was clear that Trump was standing near the celebrating players, Australian commentator Claudio Fabiano was heard on that country’s feed, stating, “They can edit him out of that.”

Trump has since said that he would like for another World Cup to take place in the United States sooner rather than later.

“But based on the numbers, we will be requesting it again immediately. But I said to take out the shock, you could announce us and maybe then for the next one another, and even another. But we have to do this again, and we have to do it while I’m around. You hear that, Gianni?,” the president said in an interview before the Final, referring to FIFA head Gianni Infantino.

However, the next World Cup that is not yet assigned a host country is in 2038, when Trump, as The Athletic noted, would be 92 years old and long out of office.
