A Highway Sign Bearing Trump’s Name In Manhattan Is Reportedly Being Taken Down And Donnie Will Probably Not Be Very Happy

That's a shame.

A highway sign bearing former President Donald Trump’s name, located on Manhattan’s west side, is being removed, according to Business Insider. This latest removal of Trump’s name adds to a lengthy list of buildings that no longer bear the twice-impeached one-term President’s name. NY Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal requested the sign’s removal, and New York’s transport department said that the Trump Organization’s contract to pay for the sign expired.

The “Donald J. Trump” sign on Hudson Parkway in Manhattan is being removed after thousands of people signed a petition calling for it to be taken down, and a Democratic state assembly member also asked for it to be taken down, according to the outlet.

The sign, that’s been up since 2009, was paid for by the Trump Organization as part of the New York Department of Transportation’s “Adopt-A-Highway” plan in which organizations or individuals can pay to sponsor road signs in the Big Apple.

The sign has been repeatedly targeted by vandals, especially after Trump ran for office.

“The petition, which gathered more than 1,600 signatures, argued that the sign violated the New York DOT’s policy of not allowing political candidates or campaigns to adopt the highway and should have been removed in 2015 when Trump announced his run for president,” Insider reports.

This isn’t a first, and I’m sure that more buildings and structures will shed the former President’s name.

The Trump Organization really didn’t want the word “Trump” that was emblazoned in gold on six apartment towers removed after a decision was made to pry the toxic name from the buildings. In fact, the Trump Organization sued and lost. Those two buildings are not the first to remove Trump’s name. In October, the Trump Organization removed the former President’s name from the two ice rinks he operates in Central Park. Forbes compiled a list of all the properties that have erased Trump’s name from its structures.

And this latest move comes after Trump incited the deadly Jan. 6th insurrection, so I suspect more will follow. Trump’s toxic brand isn’t exactly inspiring.
