Alec Baldwin, who often portrays Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, took to his Twitter account this week to warn his followers that Republicans are elevating the president’s power to levels comparable to that of Adolf Hitler. The 61-year-old actor tore into Trump following his acquittal by Senate Republicans.
Adding to the mix of fuckery, the Department of Justice plans to reduce its original sentencing recommendation for Trump’s longtime associate, Roger Stone. That move prompted prosecutors with the agency to resign.
Trump is also trying to retaliate against Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman after he was issued a subpoena and subsequently testified at the “president’s” impeachment trial. Baldwin has had it, and let loose on Twitter.
“It’s official,” he tweeted. “The United States government is as lawless as the malignant dictatorships we’ve hated in our foreign policy since WWII.”

Baldwin then called out Republicans for their “lack of courage.”
“You wonder how Hitler took control of a once great country,” the actor added. “For those of you too young to recall the War or its aftermath, simply watch how this GOP-controlled Senate behaves. Their sniveling fealty and lack of courage. And you begin to get it.”

Baldwin’s portrayal of Trump on SNL has frequently gotten under the president’s thin skin. But judging by his Twitter rant, Baldwin isn’t playing around as Trump’s appalling and unprecedented behavior appears to be getting worse.
