Millions of Americans filed claims for unemployment benefits last week, and the US death toll for the novel coronavirus is about to hit sixty-two thousand. Another 3.8 million workers are seeking US unemployment aid, raising total layoffs to about 30 million in just six weeks’ time. The spreading disease resulted in dozens of bodies that were found in two unrefrigerated U-Haul trucks that produced an “overwhelming stench” at a Brooklyn funeral home.
People are dying, and more than one million Americans have contracted COVID-19 — so of course, Donald Trump is shitposting on Twitter to lash out at the world. The raging narcissist-in-chief is retweeting various accounts to attack the FBI, Nancy Pelosi, and Joe Biden. Trump lashed out at “Do Nothing Democrats” and unleashed an all-caps tweet to attack former FBI director James Comey.

Actually, if it hadn’t been for Comey’s actions just before the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton would be the president and not the moist donut that’s currently residing in the White House.

But back to the real news.
According to MarketWatch, even though the weekly pace of layoffs has slowed since peaking at 6.9 million at the end of March, millions more are still expected to apply in the next several weeks. And there are many more Americans who are still waiting for states to process and approve their claims.
States such as Florida and North Carolina have made it very difficult for their residents to get unemployment benefits. So now that millions are unemployed amid the pandemic, only about ten percent of unemployed people in those states are getting benefits.
There are a lot of grieving families out there right now, and a metric fuckton of Americans who have found themselves suddenly out of a job as they self-quarantine at home in hopes of flattening the coronavirus curve. Meanwhile, Trump wants to start a slap-fight with James Comey while the president attacks the FBI over its treatment of Michael Flynn — who pled guilty.
