The growing catastrophe in Ukraine has officially reached a heartbreaking fever pitch as Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a surprise speech, in which he essentially declared war on Ukraine, announcing a “special military action” against the country, just literal mere moments before bombs and/or missiles began to drop on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

CNN has reported that “the invasion has begun.”

To say that this is an earth-shattering, life-changing catastrophe would be the understatement of the century. It is not entirely out of the question that this planet is on the verge of what would be our third World War.

Over the past few days, we have reported on the disgusting praises that Donald Trump has heaped on the Russian dictator who has now officially declared war on and invaded the country of Ukraine — calling President Putin a “genius” and “savvy” and suggesting we needed similar action at the United States’ southern border. Donald’s behavior and rhetoric this week have served as a stark, frankly sobering reminder of where Trump’s loyalty lies.

But thanks to the hard work and dedication of the American people in November 2020, we can at least approach this gut-wrenching disaster knowing that Donald Trump no longer has any power.

Within minutes of the earth-shattering development and Russian invasion attack in Ukraine, President Biden released a statement reminding us all why we so desperately need his leadership now, more than ever.

“The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked & unjustified attack by Russian military forces. Pres. Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life & human suffering,” the President wrote in an official White House statement for immediate release this evening. “Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable.”

“I will be monitoring the situation from the White House this evening and will continue to get regular updates from my national security team. Tomorrow, I will meet with my G7 counterparts in the morning and then speak to the American people to announce the further consequences the United States and our Allies and partners will impose on Russia for this needless act of aggression against Ukraine and global peace and security. We will also coordinate with our NATO Allies to ensure a strong, united response that deters any aggression against the Alliance. Tonight, Jill and I are praying for the brave and proud people of Ukraine.”

All I can say at this point is that I truly cannot express how deeply thankful I, and so many millions of other Americans and human beings are that President Biden is at the head of this now, and we’re not suffering this catastrophe under the reign of Donald Trump. God only knows what would have happened.
