Authorities have identified the man who allegedly committed the heinous shooting inside a Brooklyn, NYC subway station yesterday morning during rush hour, after tossing a smoke bomb to distract and disorient passengers, as 62-year-old Frank James, according to new reporting from CNN.
While James, who left in his wake 10 people with gunshot wounds and an additional 19 injured, remains on the loose and the subject of a massive New York manhunt, Lt. Thomas Antonetti of the New York Police Department told CNN today. But authorities have reportedly collected a mass of details on the alleged shooter, including a link between the shooter and several rambling, ranting YouTube videos in which James attacked the NCY mayor’s new plan to combat homelessness and safety in the city and used disgusting misogynistic and racist language.
NYPD released social media posts with pictures of the alleged shooter for identification and asked the American people to contact them if anyone had any information on Frank’s possible whereabouts.
On 4/12/22 at 8:30 AM, Frank Robert James fired numerous gun shots inside an “N” line subway car at 36th St & 4th Ave subway station causing serious injuries to 10 people. James’ latest video was reportedly posted on Monday, the day before the shooting, in which he talked about someone who committed an act of violence and ended up in jail. James claimed that he could identify with the man’s violent desires, but talked of the consequences of acting upon them.
“I’ve been through a lot of s**t, where I can say I wanted to kill people. I wanted to watch people die right in front of my f**king face immediately. But I thought about the fact that, hey man, I don’t want to go to no f**king prison,” the alleged shooter said in the video from this week.
Additional videos that were reportedly uploaded by James, a Black man, contain numerous references to violence, attacks against a subset of people he felt misaligned him, and apparent hatred toward broad societal and racial groups.
One video from February showed Frank attacking a plan from NYC’s Mayor Eric Adams to address safety concerns and combat homelessness in the city’s subways. Part of Adams’ plan included the expanded presence of and access to mental health professionals. Speaking of his own alleged negative experience with city health workers during a “crisis of mental health back in the ’90s ’80s and ’70s” James said the mayor’s plan was “doomed to fail.”
Just last week, James posted a video using heavily racist and misogynistic language to rail against abuse in churches and racism in the workplace.
“We need to see more mass shootings,” the alleged mass shooter said after talking about community violence. “Yeah… We need to see more, there has to be more mass shootings to make a n***er understand… It’s not about the shooter; it’s about the environment in which he is, he has to exist.”
