Look, no matter what the GOP tries to tell you, this pandemic is the absolute farthest thing from over. I’ve noticed over the last few months that Republicans and their followers are now walking around behaving as though COVID-19 is now a thing of the past, a distant memory that no one wants to relive. They’re going out without masking. Gathering in big crowds. Carrying on with their lives as if there’s simply not a deadly virus raging throughout the nation.
But let me make one thing clear — this is not over. It is not over at all. In fact, many experts and public health officials are trying their damndest to warn the American people that our darkest days are likely still yet to come, as the Delta variant takes over from coast to coast. Not only is the pandemic far from over, folks, it is getting worse.
If ever there were a time that you should absolutely be getting your vaccine, masking up, and staying the hell away from people — it is now. This new variant is nothing to mess with, as it claims the lives of adults and children alike, and it will only get worse the longer we go without a fully vaccinated population.
That’s why it’s imperative, now more than ever, that the information being spread across media is true and factual so that the American people can make a genuinely informed decision about their health and that of those around them.
And it seems Twitter has taken that into their own hands.

According to reporting from CNN correspondent Donie O’Sullivan, the GOP’s biggest fear-mongering, lie-spreading talking head, Marjorie Taylor Greene, got her Twitter account suspended for a week after spreading MORE lies and misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine that is so vital to our survival now.
Check out his thread:
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been suspended from tweeting for a week after she claimed on Twitter yesterday that vaccines are “failing.”

A Twitter spokesperson said the tweet “was labeled in line with our COVID-19 misleading information policy. The account will be in read-only mode for a week due to repeated violations of the Twitter Rules.”

Twitter has a five strike policy on Covid misinformation. It looks like Greene is on her 4th strike. pic.twitter.com/J8di7mXfXF

It was this tweet from Greene that earned her a suspension from the social media platform:
The FDA should not approve the covid vaccines.
There are too many reports of infection & spread of #COVID19 among vaccinated people.
These vaccines are failing & do not reduce the spread of the virus & neither do masks.
Vaccine mandates & passports violate individual freedoms.

While it’s true that people who have had their vaccine are still contracting the Delta variant of the coronavirus, you’ll note that Twitter labeled Greene’s tweet as “misleading” — that’s because, despite the fact that some vaccinated individuals are contracting the new variant, the percentage of infections among vaccinated individuals are much lower, and the severity of their symptoms is drastically reduced thanks to the vaccine.
It’s high time all platforms follow suit and stop the spread of misinformation so we can actually get past this pandemic, for real. Not just to GOP standards.
