Disney Theme Parks are doing their part to celebrate Black lives by re-imagining Splash Mountain, and conservatives are furious about it.
The current Splash Mountain ride was originally fashioned after a racist movie known as Song of the South, which was released in the 1940s. The racist elements have since been removed, but the mass protests against racial injustice and police brutality inspired Disney to take even further action — by turning the popular ride into a celebration of the company’s lone black princess, Tiana from the animated feature The Princess And The Frog.
We’re thrilled to share Splash Mountain at @Disneyland & @WaltDisneyWorld will be completely reimagined with a new story inspired by an all-time favorite @DisneyAnimation film, “The Princess and the Frog.” Learn about what Imagineers have in development: https://t.co/HyKfdDSH3j pic.twitter.com/DV6476KAVX

The film is set in 1920s Louisiana and features several memorable characters who would leave a lasting impression on guests at the parks.

But conservatives are outraged because they think Splash Mountain belongs to them and should remain unchanged. Also because they are racists.
That’s it @DisneyParks give into the pressure. This is ridiculous. Are we just gonna change everything and just rewrite history completely?!?! Grow up people, stop whining and learn from the past to make the future better!

IF YOU THOUGHT IT WAS WRONG IN THE FIRST PLACE DONT GO ON IT. THE RIDE DIDNT HURT ANYONE. DONT RUIN THE FUN FOR OTHERS.

Nobody want’s this, way to cave and give in to the pressure yet again, build a new ride, leave splash alone

It’s a smart move by the Walt Disney Company, and even Walt Disney himself would approve. After all, the time to move forward has been long overdue.
“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious … and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” ~Walt Disney
