Donald Trump certainly didn’t go out of his way to keep his hatred for the late Rep. Elijah Cummings a secret. Before the Baltimore representatives passing, Donald made a point to launch multiple, shameful attacks against the man and his district.
But now, months after Cummings’ death, as his widow Maya Rockeymoore Cummings continues her campaign for her late husband’s Maryland seat, Maya revealed during a segment on the talk show The View that the abuse her husband received at the hands of this nation’s “president” wasn’t limited to what came from Trump himself — apparently, Donald’s relentless attacks spurred his base of rabid supporters into actual death threats against the late representative and his family. And they were so bad, in fact, that they “undermined” her husband’s health and well-being.
Ms. Cummings explained during her appearance on the talk show that she hopes to build her campaign on her late husband’s champion of civil rights legacy and intends to fight against the Republican agenda of limiting voter access.
“We felt like this was our zero moment as a nation, that we have to make sure that we’re all on the battlefield fighting for our future, and so while it does not look good in terms of President Trump and the Republicans,” Cummings explained. “What they’re doing to try to take us back 100 years in this country, the fact of the matter is that people are rising up all across the country. They are saying that we will not be oppressed, you will not take our democracy away from us. We have hordes of women who are running to take office, we have young people who are standing up and speaking out.”

“It hurt him deeply,” Maya stated in regard to the president’s repeated attack against her husband. “Absolutely, and it hurt him at his worst moment. Elijah was already battling health issues, so to have the president come out and do this at that time, you know, it really depressed him and it stressed him, and I think it undermined his health.”
Meghan McCain, who serves as a co-host on The View and has also experienced the ire of Trump through his repeated smear campaigns against her deceased father, late Senator John McCain was noticeably appalled by Ms. Cummings’ admissions.
“That is horrific,” McCain responded. “That is horrific. I’m sorry, that is just — that is hard to hear. I’m sorry.”
“It was our reality,” Cummings stated. “Absolutely, and all of his minions out there — nasty tweets, death threats, you name it, we were going through it.”

This is the world we live in now, folks. As we are supposed to be celebrating the life of Civil Rights Movement spiritual leader Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. we are instead faced with the sad and sicking reality that the “president” of our country is nothing more than an immature, racist piece of shit with an equally immature and racist base of supporters who give zero fucks about the well-being, health, and happiness of anyone who wouldn’t have made it on Adolf Hitler’s nice list.
