The list of things I despise about Donald Trump is virtually endless. However, Trump, along with pretty much the entire GOP, has one particular habit that I just cannot stand — they will lie, cheat, and bow to whatever narrative best fits their current situation, the facts, the truth, and even their past “principles” be damned. The people truly are spineless in every conceivable sense of the word.
As we’ve been reporting for the last week or so, former President Donald Trump has been desperately trying to twist and rework the narrative surrounding himself, Vladimir Putin, and Ukraine, following the violent and ongoing Russian invasion and attack against Ukraine and its people.
The disgraced former president continues to lob not-so-thinly-veiled praises and excuses for his favorite Russian dictator at pretty much every chance he gets. But to make matters that much worse, Trump is literally attempting to rewrite history when it comes to his own personal history with the countries of Ukraine and Russia and the global military alliance NATO.
Since the invasion and attack against Ukraine, Trump has repeatedly made public comments and statements claiming that the attack never would have happened on his watch. He has taken credit for the mere existence of NATO, despite the fact that he regularly disparaged the global alliance and even threatened to pull the US entirely. And he has even gone so far as to take credit for Ukraine’s success and weaponry, claiming he’s responsible for much of the aid they have received, completely ignoring the fact that he was quite literally impeached (the first time) for withholding congressionally-approved aid from the very same country in an attempt to extort Ukrainian President Voldomyr Zelenskyy into giving him “dirt” on his then political opponent Joe Biden.

Frankly, the things that have come out of Donald Trump’s mouth over the past several days have left us absolutely astounded, and it takes a lot to accomplish that these days.
Trump’s lies, mistruths, and twisting have gotten so bad, in fact, that his former National Security Advisor John Bolton is now publicly speaking out against the Trump-fueled idea that number 45 was somehow “tough” on Russia, Putin feared him, and the attack would never have happened if he hadn’t lost the 2020 election.
Bolton recently made an appearance on the ultra Right-wing Newsmax network where the host attempted to heap praises on Donald Trump for the same mistruths Trump himself has been spewing with regard to the ex-president’s “handling” of Russia and Putin during his presidential term.
Bolton was having precisely none of it.
Responding to the host, the former Trump-era National Security Advisor blistered:
No, he did not. He did not. We didn’t sanction Nord Stream 2…we should have, we should have brought the project to an end. We did impose sanctions on Russian oligarchs and several others because of their sales of S-400 antiaircraft systems to other countries. But in almost every case, the sanctions were imposed with Trump complaining about it saying we were being too hard. The fact is that he barely knew where Ukraine was. He once asked John Kelly, his second chief of staff, if Finland were a part of Russia. It is just not accurate to say that Trump’s behavior somehow deterred the Russians. I think the evidence is that Russia didn’t feel that their military was ready.”

The laundry list of supportive measures Trump took for Russia and Putin both in and out of office is so extensive it would blow my word count to smithereens, as noted by a recent report from Vanity Fair.
The fact of the matter is, Donald Trump, and even the Right-wing media can attempt to rewrite history and their own distorted reality until the cows come home — the American people have not now, nor will they ever forget what he’s done. Period.
