Former SDNY Prosecutor Claims There’s So Much “Damming” Evidence Against Trump That He Expects POTUS To Take A Plea Deal

Tick tock, Mr. Trump.

William Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine and a retired civil servant, gave a damning testimony on Tuesday in which he destroyed Donald Trump’s cries of “no quid pro quo” with the “president’s” controversial phone call with Ukraine’s leader. As it happens, there was quid pro fucking quo. “Bombshells” were expected to be dropped during Taylor’s testimony but the lifelong diplomat surpassed that.

Taylor confirmed that Trump withheld aid to Ukraine until Ukraine’s President agreed to publicly announce he was opening an investigation into Joe Biden. As Rep. Justin Amash tweeted, “Bill Taylor’s testimony is devastating evidence that President Trump engaged in both a corrupt act and a quid pro quo.”

Former U.S. Attorney David N. Kelley — who ran the Southern District of New York office of federal prosecutors — offered a breakdown on MSNBC of the devastating evidence in the impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump after it was revealed that he (again) sought to obtain dirt on a political rival from a foreign government.

The evidence is so “overwhelming” that Kelley believes that Trump will have no alternative but to accept a plea deal.

“Lots of cases don’t go to trial in a criminal case because the evidence is overwhelming or sufficient enough to have a conviction. I doubt this is a case that would really go to trial,” Kelley told Ari Melber. “When confronted with all the evidence, a reasonable defendant would likely take a plea.”

“This is pretty damning evidence,” Kelley added.

“Damning, slam-dunk evidence?” Melber asked.

“Yeah,” he responded.

Watch:

Trump is gaslighting on Twitter this morning but Ukraine was aware of the hold on military aid for at least two weeks, Politico reported in late August.

Taylor’s testimony has now brought on calls for Trump Ambassador Gordon Sondland to potentially face perjury charges. Sondland, by the way, was a $1 million donor to Donnie’s swampy inaugural committee.

Taylor recounted how Sondland defended Trump’s transactional foreign policy because he is “a businessman.” And all this time Trump supporters have claimed that the former reality show star is our “president.”

“Ambassador Sondland tried to explain to me that President Trump is a businessman,” Taylor told House investigators. “When a businessman is about to sign a check to someone who owes him something, he said, the businessman asks that person to pay up before signing the check.”

After the impeachment inquiry was launched, Trump had repeatedly denied there was a quid pro quo deal but Taylor’s testimony confirmed the whistleblower’s account of what occurred. Also, Taylor is known for taking meticulous notes, and that’s something that will rattle the “president.”
