The corruption is truly endless among the Republican crowd, as a brutal new report from The Associated Press has revealed that one former Trump aide who’s now running for Congress in New Hampshire, allegedly voted twice in the 2016 election, in two different states — a move that is not only in potential violation of federal voting law but also pretty much serves to shoot the Republican talking point of “election integrity” straight to Hell.

Matt Mowers, a former senior advisor during the Trump administration who would go on to serve in a State Department position as well, is now a leading Republican primary candidate in New Hampshire, where he’s looking to unseat his Democratic opponent, House Rep. Chris Pappas. According to the AP’s report, as well as voting records, Mowers cast his vote in New Hampshire’s 2016 presidential primary via an absentee ballot. At the time, he was serving in a position as the director of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s presidential campaign within the crucial early-voting state.

However, four months later, Christie’s presidential run fizzled out with little more than a pathetic pop, and according to documents obtained by the publication through a public records request, Mowers ultimately cast an additional vote in New Jersey’s Republican presidential primary, utilizing his parents’ home address to re-register in his home state.

According to legal experts, Mowers’ double-dipping vote could very well be in violation of a federal law that expressly prohibits “voting more than once” in “any general, special, or primary election.” This law includes casting ballots in separate jurisdictions “for an election to the same candidacy or office.”

This new development, of course, puts the former Trump aide at direct odds with his party’s ongoing talking points regarding widespread fraud and overall “election integrity” in the United States, following Donald Trump’s brutal 2020 loss, and his subsequent refusal to accept that loss.

University of Minnesota Law School professor, David Schultz, who personally specializes in election law, said, “What he has done is cast a vote in two different states for the election of a president, which on the face of it looks like he’s violated federal law. You get one bite at the voting apple.”

Mowers’ campaign refused to make the congressional candidate available for an interview but campaign spokesman John Corbett did release a statement, in which he did not directly address the candidate’s double-vote, but did cite Mowers’ former work on the 2016 Trump campaign.

“Matt was proud to work for President Trump as the GOP establishment was working to undermine his nomination,” Corbett’s statement read. “Matt moved for work and was able to participate in the primary in support of President Trump and serve as a delegate at a critical time for the Republican Party and country.”

The Associated Press reports, “There is little chance Mowers could face prosecution. The statute of limitations has lapsed, and there is no record of anyone being prosecuted under this specific section of federal election law, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures, which tracks the issue.”

However, there is certainly the glaring fact that Mowers is just one of several former Trump officials or staffers who have found themselves busted for not acting ethically with regard to their voting habits, despite the Right’s “election integrity” platform. Just recently, Donald Trump’s own former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows found himself under investigation in North Carolina after he was busted for registering in two different states and listing a mobile home in the state as his address that not only did he not own, but he seemingly never even visited — also in potential violation of federal voting laws.

It certainly seems as though, unsurprisingly so, the party of “election integrity” is resoundingly lacking in the integrity department.
