Recently, we reported on the revelation from former Trump official and Melania’s ex-BFF Stephanie Grisham that she would soon be meeting more than a dozen of her fellow former Trump aides where they planned to discuss how they could “formally do some things to try and stop him.”
Now, according to a different former official from the Trump Administration, that meeting has, in fact, taken place, and she claims that far more former employees of the one-term, twice-impeached former guy showed up to the talk and they all seem to share the “grave concern” over where the disgraced ex-president is headed.
Former Homeland Security adviser and ex-Pence adviser Olivia Troye spoke with CNN’s Jim Acosta yesterday and revealed that the meeting of ex-Trump officials had a far larger turnout than they expected. She went on to explain that the group was still in the early stages of their discussion but noted that they heavily focused on ways they could all work together in an effort to combat the ex-president’s incessant and dangerous lies.
“It’s the first time we’ve all come together as a group,” Troye told Acosta. “This is a group of people that have worked across the Trump administration at varying levels, whether it be national security or more on the political side of the White House, and in different departments. I did find it encouraging that it was a much larger number of people who participated in this meeting than I actually expected it to be. And it was very clear that there is grave concern amongst these circles about what is happening, about the fact that Trump continues to play such a significant role in influencing our U.S. politics, and also what it means for this movement that continues to follow him and the movement that he continues to enable.”

The CNN host went on to ask the former Pence advisor about the ex-vice president’s recent op-ed in the Washington Post. Troye was quick to assert that Pence is very clearly giving credence to Donald Trump blatant lies about the 2020 election.
“I read that op-ed, and while I was, like, okay, finally, you’re actually publicly acknowledging that this was an angry mob and it was a dangerous situation that day,” Troye explained. “But then he doubles back on the claims of election integrity, which is basically code for the big lie. So when he does that, he’s by de facto enabling it. That’s what he’s doing. You’re enabling the big lie that almost led to your death. And I think he’s doing that because he really has no other choice. He is right now scrambling to figure out where his political home is in the Republican Party.”
The former Trump official goes on to explain that if Pence should ultimately decide that the Republican party is, in fact, the part of Trumpism, then his chances at securing much of anything in 2024 are “an extreme long shot.”
