Fox News host Laura Ingraham portrayed National Institutes of Health infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci as the villain of this pandemic who will destroy America as we know it if we keep listening to him about the coronavirus.
Fauci and scores of other health experts across the country strongly recommend continuing the lockdowns and social distancing policies in place instead of reopening the nation too early. President Donald Trump and his Republican allies desperately want to re-open against this advice even though re-opening now could trigger a deadly second wave of the virus.
More than 50,000 Americans have already died because of this virus. It’s imperative that the American people and government officials listen to them to save lives. A second wave would also hurt the economy even more because it would have to shut down even longer.
But Ingraham would rather us listen to Trump, the same man who just suggested injecting ourselves with disinfectants to treat the virus and the same man whose recklessness resulted in the crisis being as bad as it is now. So she attacked Fauci by claiming that he is destroying the country as we know it.

“If we wait for Dr. Fauci’s seal of approval to reopen America, we may not have an America to reopen,” she said. “At least not one we recognize.”
“I have my own testing proposal,” Ingraham continued. “Want to hear it? Let’s start testing the lame data and theories that have been shifting ever since this crisis began.”

That “lame data” currently shows that all the measures Fauci has recommended are working to flatten the curve and prevent the spread of coronavirus. Abandoning his strategy now would put the public health at serious risk and would cause more deaths.
Europe made the same mistake of relaxing social distancing measures during the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918, only to see a second wave sweep through and kill more people than the first wave did.
Ingraham, like Trump, is not a health expert. Therefore, she’s the one we should not be listening to anymore, not Fauci.
