Google Appears To Break From Trump After He Bragged About How Quickly The New COVID-19 Website Would Go Up

Ouch!

As the novel coronavirus continues to gain steam around the world and across the United States, Donald Trump was essentially forced to face the music this afternoon and finally cough up a halfway decent, legitimate response to what is now officially a pandemic.

For the most part, his announcement this afternoon honestly wasn’t horrible compared to almost every other public speaking even that Donald Trump is even remotely involved in.

Whether it was finally some fear for his own safety, fear of another stock market plummet, or just a bunch of White House officials who had finally had all of his nonsense they were going to take, Trump was ultimately pretty sane acting and laid out some decent, legitimate regulations, changes, and policies that may actually help this country get through this God awful thing.

However, we all know there’s simply no such thing as a perfect Trump speech at this point. It’s been three years. The man literally ALWAYS makes an ass out of himself in one way or another. And this time, it came in the form of a thinly-veiled dig at his predecessor.

In the process of explaining that his administration was working with Google to produce a website that would help streamline the process of determining if you needed a COVID-19 test, where to get it if you do, and getting your results as quickly as possible, Trump simply couldn’t miss his chance to take a dig at Obama.

More specifically, he claimed that his fancy new website was going to be better and go up and live faster than Obama’s website regarding the Affordable Healthcare Act did.

But as it turns out, Trump was unsurprisingly full of bologna once again.

After Trump made the declaration on live national TV, it seemed that Google had no choice but to take to their social media account and clarify that the president wasn’t exactly on point in his less-than-humble brag against his forerunner.

“We are developing a tool to help triage individuals for Covid-19 testing. Verily is in the early stages of development, and planning to roll testing out in the Bay Area, with the hope of expanding more broadly over time,” Google communications posted on their Twitter account. They followed it with a second tweet reading, “We appreciate the support of government officials and industry partners and thank the Google engineers who have volunteered to be part of this effort.”

He was so close to not screwing that one up.

Might I suggest that next time you actually check with your peeps before making such a declaration? It would go a long way in not making you look like quite as big an asshole.
