The people of Uvalde, Texas, are in pain — mind-boggling, soul-crushing, chest-splitting, life-altering pain. Twenty-one families have been shattered forever. Nineteen rooms full of books and toys and awards and photos sit empty now. Excitedly laid out summer plans are now abandoned, traded instead for planned funerals. Two classrooms now sit with all the special touches of two teachers that won’t return. Lesson plans never to be touched again.
Salvador Ramos used an AR-15 assault rifle to forever destroy the lives of countless people, of an entire community — all while it seems as though the Uvalde police did next to nothing.
In the days since the Robb Elementary School massacre — when the 18-year-old gunman entered the school through an unlocked exterior door, barricaded himself in a 4th-grade classroom, and slaughtered 21 innocent human beings — the scrutiny against the Uvalde Police Department has only grown with each passing moment.
Reports have flooded over the last week telling of police officers who stood in the elementary school parking lot and pepper-sprayed, tased, and arrested screaming, terrified parents as they begged the officers to do something, anything, to save their children inside the school. Reports have told of the elite Border Patrol tactical unit that was intentionally prevented by Uvalde police from breaching the classroom and taking out the shooter. Reports have revealed that approximately 19 officers stood in the hallway outside of the classroom where Ramos had barricaded himself, for upwards of an hour, laying heavy on the excuse that their commander, for whatever God-forsaken reason, was of the belief that the immediate threat to the children inside the room was long past. Reports have indicated that he likely knew that was not true. And now… Now they’re not even cooperating with the investigation anymore.

And one grieving great-grandfather is now demanding answers.
A new clip that’s now circulating on social media allegedly shows the great-grandfather of one of the Uvalde massacre victims confronting the local police to their faces, demanding to know, “Where were you…?!”

I hope that the Uvalde Police understand that the people of their town and the people of this nation will not rest until we have answers. No stone will go unturned.
