Suffice it to say, the last few weeks have been positively brutal for ex-President Donald Trump as the January 6th House Select Committee heats their investigation into the infamous, violent Capitol attack (and the former guy’s specific role in inciting it) to a fever pitch. Over the course of the last month or so, we’ve seen sudden cooperation with the panel from some of Trump’s most fervent insiders and allies, many of which you’d least expect — including former top senior aide Stephen Miller, his eldest son’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, his eldest and most beloved daughter Ivanka, and even his most loyal son, Donald Trump Jr.

And now, it seems yet another of his closest people is now cooperating with the committee and will soon deliver their testimony in the case against Donald Trump.

According to a new report from CNN, Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and staunch sycophant Rudy Giuliani is now set to appear and testify before the January 6th House Select Committee, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Rudy’s alleged cooperation comes on the heels of months and months of negotiations with the panel after Rudy was originally subpoenaed by the committee back in January. Since the subpoena, Rudy has been in talks with the lawmakers on the panels, via his own legal team, on the scope of the subpoena issued against him, and whether or not he could possibly comply with some of their requests.

In the subpoena issued to the former Trump attorney, the House panel wrote that Giuliani “actively promoted claims of election fraud on behalf of the former President and sought to convince state legislators to take steps to overturn the election results.” The subpoena also notes that Giuliani was in direct contact with Donald Trump and several members of Congress “regarding strategies for delaying or overturning the results of the 2020 election.”

According to a previous report from CNN, Rudy was directly involved in efforts to secure illegitimate electors from seven states that Trump lost, citing sources familiar with the events. Another prior report from CNN alleged that Giuliani was considering cooperating with the panel with regard to claims of election fraud, but planned to continue to refuse to waive his alleged executive or attorney-client privilege.

CNN writes:

It is unclear whether the committee has agreed to honor Giuliani’s concerns about privilege, but he can invoke privilege protections in response to individual questions if he so chooses.

As with other witnesses under subpoena, the committee has previously said it expected Giuliani to ‘cooperate fully.’ The committee declined to comment Wednesday on Giuliani’s expected appearance.”
