On September 4, Ivanka Trump opened Instagram and started unboxing. Trading cards, sneakers, a hoodie, an energy drink, a whole haul, story by story.
Seven sets of Topps trading cards led things off, including the Chrome Cosmic and UFC Knockout lines, estimated to be worth roughly $4,715. “Something for every sports fan in the house. Thank you @fanatics,” she wrote, tagging the company behind Topps.
Loungewear got its own moment next.
A second post showed off two baseball caps, a pair of sneakers, a tote bag, and a white hoodie courtesy of Palm Tree Crew, valued at around $350 altogether. “The perfect Miami uniform,” she captioned it, complete with a palm tree emoji for good measure.

Family got a mention too.
One story plugged a new energy drink flavor from Accelerator, a brand tied to her niece, golfer and social media personality Kai Trump. “A much-needed dose of energy for the busy school year ahead. Congrats @kaitrump,” she wrote alongside a photo of the branded cans and cap.
The sneaker stop is where the value of the haul really began to add up.
She picked up four pairs of On Cloud shoes, including one from Roger Federer’s personal collection, along with two additional women’s pairs and another men’s pair. Together, those shoes were worth about $830, taking the estimated value of her gifts that day to roughly $5,895.
The numbers get a little uncomfortable when you put that haul next to the couple’s wealth. Ivanka is estimated to have a personal fortune of around $100 million, while her husband, Jared Kushner, is worth an estimated $1 billion. This is not exactly a household that needs help keeping the grocery bill down.
Still, Ivanka didn’t stumble into that fortune.
Much of her business success came through licensing deals, allowing her brand to earn money from retail sales without taking on the costs of manufacturing. It’s a smart model, and it worked. But it also makes a free hoodie worth questioning when the recipient already has a nine figure fortune.
Her résumé helps explain the rest.
Ivanka spent years as an executive vice president at the Trump Organization, where she worked on projects including the Doral Resort in Miami and the Old Post Office building in Washington. She later added book deals and modeling contracts with brands such as Versace and Tommy Hilfiger.
The contrast becomes sharper when that résumé is placed next to the financial reality facing most Americans. Median household wealth in the U.S. is about $192,900, a figure that includes things like home equity and retirement accounts that families cannot simply spend whenever they need cash.
And when it comes to money people can actually access, the gap is even wider. A typical household may have less than $20,000 in liquid savings available for an emergency, making the value of Ivanka’s free merchandise haul in a single Wednesday afternoon look especially hard to relate to.
