Jared Kushner’s Hare-Brained Scheme Brutally Backfired On Him, Costing The US Two Crucial Weeks In Pandemic Response

Why doesn't this surprise me?

There’s certainly no denying that the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic was absolutely catastrophic on so many different levels. Frankly, I will never not believe that this nation would have pulled through this pandemic in a matter of a few short months if only we had been under different leadership. But instead, we were forced to exist under the power of a man who was far more concerned with his image and ratings than the health, safety, well-being, and literal lives of the people he took an oath to protect.

To make matters that much worse, no one down the chain from Donald Trump did a single thing to intervene and stop the madness as hundreds of thousands of Americans got sick and died. In fact, Trump’s people were just as deeply embroiled in the chaos and mayhem as he was.

And leading the pack of sycophantic idiots with a complete disregard for human life was none other than Donald’s own son-in-law turned senior advisor, Jared Kushner.

While these days it seems that Kushner and his wife, Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka, are doing their best to distance themselves from the ex-president in an effort to cling to what little image they have left, that certainly does nothing to negate the things he willingly did under Donnie’s command — like costing this nation crucial weeks during the height of the pandemic thanks to the hare-brained schemes he’d cooked up to improve optics.

Washington Post reporters Damian Paletta and Yasmine Abutaleb have recently penned a new book covering the disastrous Trump administration response to the COVID-19 pandemic and recently sat down for an interview with The Daily Beast, in which they heavily touched on the role Jared Kushner played in that catastrophe.

According to the reporters, it was one of Jared’s big initiatives that ultimately backfired and cost this nation two long, crucial weeks when it came to combatting the fatal virus.

The Kushner plan in question here was his idea to utilize big-name pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS as drive-thru testing sites in an effort to get quick and efficient COVID-19 tests out to the American public.

However, like most things hailing from the Trump administration, the initiative was a pretty big bust, backfiring on the president’s son-in-law and only serving to cost the nation time and resources that we couldn’t afford.

“When he came in and wanted to launch that initiative, he actually caused a two-week shortage of testing because all the swabs and a lot of the personal protective equipment had been diverted to this drive-thru site,” Abutaleb revealed.

That was two weeks that could have been better spent somewhere else.

Abutaleb and Paletta’s book, Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration’s Response to the Pandemic That Changed History, hits the shelves today.
