Controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene once again stepped into controversy by saying something highly offensive. According to Newsweek, the Georgia Republican was pushing back against claims of her party being a “white supremacist party” then referred to Asian Americans as “yellow people.” It’s as if she never learned to think before she speaks. To be clear, the Jewish Space Lasers conspiracy theorist defended her party against claims of racism by using a term that’s considered racist at the weekend conference of the conservative Turning Point USA youth movement.
“When I walked in yesterday, I was like, what kind of people come here?” Greene said. “So I’m walking around and seeing some good people, and I see white people, Black people, brown people, yellow people.”
“And then there’s talk of freedom and loving America and conservative principles, some crazy people in here were talking about how much they love this guy named Jesus. And I heard—someone I really like—I think I heard that a lot of people here like a guy named Donald J. Trump.”
“And then I said, ‘Oh, oh, I know exactly what this is. The Left calls this a white supremacist party,'” Greene said. “Okay, okay, I know what I’m going to now.”

When talking about Asian people and referring to them as “yellow,” it is a known racial slur. Newsweek notes that the term “yellow peril”—a racist ideology that paints Asian people as a menace to Western nations and values—could be traced in the U.S. from the nineteenth century.
I honestly think that Republicans should refrain from trying to discuss other races. They just can’t stop themselves. When Donald Trump got into office, he encouraged the worst in our society. He permitted them to be the worst human beings possible. And that, folks, is how awful people like Marjorie Taylor Greene got into office.
