Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany appears to have a very short memory, forgetting the numerous times that members of the Trump administration, including herself, have violated the Hatch Act. Probably one of the most egregious examples was when former President Donald Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination from the South Lawn of the White House.
McEnany attacked White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Twitter, accusing her of violating the Hatch Act, which bans federal employees from political campaigning. She attacked Psaki that even though she worked as a Trump 2020 campaign adviser and the White House press secretary at the same time.
McEnany, who was a walking Hatch Act abuser, took issue with Psaki answering a reporter’s question, saying, “We’re going to do everything we can to help former governor McAuliffe, and we believe in the agenda he’s representing.”
Why does the media not hold @PressSec accountable for potential Hatch Act violations? She has twice advocated for political candidates from the podium.
There is no problem in engaging in First Amendment political activity, but it must be done separate and apart from the podium. https://t.co/ICLldHRCgs

I’m so old I remember one year ago, when Kayleigh was drawing a $183,000 taxpayer-financed salary to be Press Sec but then moonlighting as a campaign spokesperson on Hannity. https://t.co/SrqHrIAViH

Didn’t see Kayleigh McEnany ask for the Hatch Act to be used when this happened. pic.twitter.com/C8Bbs2yi9G

Anyone who supports Trump and now is screaming about the Hatch Act is a disingenuous douchebag.

It’s not as if Psaki held up a can of Goya beans. At any rate, she was answering a reporter’s question, not campaigning for McAuliffe.
