Kellyanne Conway’s Husband Writes Brilliant Op-Ed Explaining Why Trump Went “Ballistic” On Him: “The Jig Is Up”

Trump will take this in an even-tempered and calm manner and...oh, never mind.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway’s husband George knows how to get under Donald Trump’s skin. And we would have used his name in the headline, but we like to get under Kellyanne’s skin, so it’s kind of a two for two deal. After Trump’s massive meltdown on Twitter this week over the ad by the “Lincoln Project” — of which Conway is a member — fundraising for the group went through the roof following the president’s meltdown.

Well, Mr. Conway is back and wrote a piece for the Washington Post explaining why Trump went “ballistic,” and he summed it up perfectly.

Even though Trump called a New York Times article a “phony story” that detailed how he watches TV at all hours due to his obsession with the news, the president then confirmed the story by rage tweeting about it. Trump likes to hate-watch and hate-read (or perhaps have it read to him) any news that’s critical of him.

And then, Mr. Conway notes, Trump proved the story was correct again.

And then, as though to prove the point again, at 12:46 a.m. on Tuesday, Trump went ballistic on Twitter — at me.

In a four-tweet screed, he attacked me and my colleagues at the Lincoln Project as ‘LOSERS,’ ‘loser types,’ ‘crazed’ and ‘a disgrace to Honest Abe.’ About me, he said, ‘I don’t know what Kellyanne did to her deranged loser of a husband, Moonface, but it must have been really bad.’ Ten hours later, on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews, Trump was still enraged, ranting about us for nearly two minutes in front of the media.”

Mr. Conway writes about Trump’s flawed personality and ineptness to lead us through a national crisis, his lies, and he writes, “God help us, he fancies himself an expert in virology and infectious diseases.”

“But the jig is up,” he continues. “When Trump lied and claimed credit for “the greatest economy in the history of our country,” even though it wasn’t, and even though he inherited a strong economy, and goosed it up with trillions of dollars in debt, it didn’t matter to most people. The economy was good — so what? The debt? That won’t come due for decades.”

Not enough people cared, he notes, when Trump “tried to obstruct the Mueller investigation,” or “when he used his presidential power to try to extort a foreign ally into smearing a political opponent.”

But, it’s different now.

“Now it all matters, painfully and concretely. Trump’s lying, his self-regard, his self-soothing, his lack of empathy, his narcissistic rage, his contempt for norms, rules, laws, facts, and simple truths — have all come home to roost,” Mr. Conway adds. “Now he sees his poll numbers fall accordingly, and lashes out with ever-increasing anger. For deep in his psyche, he knows the truth. Because he fears being revealed as a fake or deranged, he’ll call others fake or deranged. Because he fears losing, he’ll call them losers instead.”

Oh, George. Trump’s going to throw another Twitter-fit, and we’re all here for it. Most people could see that Trump is mentally ill, but the problem is that his supporters can’t seem to see through the fog.
