Lauren Boebert’s GOP Opponent Was Arrested For Driving Drunk With A Weapon In His Posession In 2022: Report

It seems scandal-ridden Lauren Boebert isn’t the only one running for Colorado’s 4th district congressional seat with skeletons in her closet.

The controversial Republican congresswoman has been no stranger to scandal here lately — ranging from her highly-publicized divorce, to her son’s teen pregnancy, to the recent physical altercation she was involved in with her ex-husband at a local restaurant — ultimately resulting in Boebert making a desperate move to salvage what little is left of her floundering political career by switching her run to a nearby, more conservative district, in hopes that there are enough fringe voters in town to save her ass.

However, it seems that race may turn out to be a little easier for Lauren than we thought, as recent reporting has revealed that her Republican opponent in Colorado’s 4th district is certainly no saint himself.

ABC Denver reports that Mike Lynch, the state’s House Minority Leader and current Republican congressional candidate going head-to-head with Boebert was arrested in 2022 for drunk driving while in possession of a gun.

Lynch ultimately pleaded down to a less severe charge of driving while ability impaired and was slapped with only 18 months of probation, which he is still serving, according to a newly uncovered Colorado State Patrol report.

Lynch inserted himself into the already crowded race earlier this month to replace Republican Rep. Ken Buck in the 4th Congressional District, where voters are said to be more staunchly conservative compared to surrounding districts in the state.

The current CO House Minority Leader and congressional contender spoke with the Denver Post this week and acknowledged his past mistake, claiming to have learned a hard lesson from his arrest.

“I’m obviously embarrassed by it,” he told the publication. “As a Christian man who professes to be that way, it’s not good to be known as getting a DUI. Honestly, the political impacts are not as much (of a concern) as just my overall reputation.”
