They know, Trump...

The main focus between Donald Trump and the Capitol insurrection — when it comes to the January 6th House Select Committee and their investigation into the heinous attack — has consistently been the role that the now-disgraced, one-term, twice-impeached former president played in inciting the disgusting violence on that fateful day.

However, today Rep. Jamie Raskin, who serves as a member of the January 6th House Panel, openly revealed that the Committee has discovered new evidence on Donald Trump that now points to “a lot more than incitement,” just days before the panel’s public, televised hearings are set to begin.

Raskin’s comment referenced Donald Trump’s second impeachment in the House of Representatives, when the House voted in support of impeaching the 45th president for the second time in his term, this time for his role in inciting his supporters into insurrection on January 6th, 2021.

In a new interview with Washington Post Live, Rep. Raskin said, “The select committee has found evidence about a lot more than incitement here, and we’re gonna be laying out the evidence about all of the actors who were pivotal to what took place on Jan. 6.”

Back on the heels of the Capitol attack, Donald Trump was impeached in the House by a 232-197 vote that saw support from 10 House Republicans and all of the House Democrats. Just a month later, the now ex-president was once again acquitted by the Republican-led Senate in a 57-43 vote, that saw support in favor of Trump’s conviction by the entire Democratic caucus and 7 Senate Republicans.

But now, the January 6th House Select Committee goes public with the contents of their nearly year-long investigation into Donald Trump on Thursday night in a prime time 8 p.m. slot, where the American public will finally bear witness to never-before-seen materials, evidence, and witness testimonies.

Raskin told Washington Post Live today that this week’s highly-publicized hearing will “tell the story of a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 presidential election and block the transfer of power.”

When asked by the host if Donald Trump was at the epicenter of that conspiracy theory, Raskin answered, “I think that Donald Trump and the White House were at the center of these events,” adding, “That’s the only way really of making sense of them all.”

The Democratic Rep. did note that “people are going to have to make judgments themselves about the relative role that different people played,” before going on to cite Donald Trump’s second impeachment, in which he personally served as the lead manager of the Senate trial.

“Of course, the House and the Senate in bicameral and bipartisan fashion have already determined that the former president, Donald Trump, incited an insurrection by majority votes in the House and the Senate,” the panel member stated. “Although, Donald Trump wasn’t convicted by the requisite two-thirds majority, but commanding majority found that he had in fact incited this insurrection.”
