Donald Trump’s former longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, has an open hearing scheduled for tomorrow in which he will be discussing his relationship with the president and reveal the inner workings of his involvement in the president’s hush money scheme and extramarital affairs. And less than 24 hours before this hearing, a Republican congressman has come forward to defend Trump and threaten Cohen.
To intimidate Cohen before he exposes Trump, Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz sent out a threat on Twitter, warning Cohen that has family life was in jeopardy. Gaetz tweeted earlier today:
Hey @MichaelCohen212. Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot…”
Gaetz has since insisted that he was not trying to threaten or intimidate Cohen, but his private conversations reveal something different. Alex Ward, a reporter at Vox.com, shared a private text message conversation he’d had with Gaetz that implied the Republican had full intention of stirring things up for Cohen:

Gaetz also defending his tweet to several reporters earlier in the day, calling his actions “witness testing” and trashing Cohen for going after the President of the United States.
This seems exactly like something the GOP would do to protect their beloved president and they’ll likely continue to scare Cohen enough so he won’t reveal everything he knows about Trump. Regardless of what comes out of it, the Cohen hearing tomorrow should be very interesting.
