When King Charles III visited the United States this week and was hosted for a state dinner by President Donald Trump, the king gave the president a gift with his name on it.

“King Charles gifted President Trump a British World War II relic with his name on it, delivered rousing remarks to Congress, and cracked quite a few historical jokes during his state visit to Washington, D.C., alongside Queen Camilla,” CBS News reported about the gift.

“The king presented Mr. Trump with an original bell that once hung aboard the HMS Trump, a British submarine used during World War II. The bell bore an inscription that read ‘Trump 1944.'”

“May it stand as a testimony to our nations’ shared history and shining future. And should you ever need to get hold of us, well, just give us a ring!,” the king said in presenting the bell at the state dinner.

However, one social media user noticed that the presentation of the bell could have had another meaning, in British slang:

“Bellend” is also a term that may be known to American viewers from Sacha Baron Cohen’s Da Ali G Show.

Was this meaning intentional? Probably not, although some social media users had some fun with it.
