New Report Claims Trump’s Legal Team Thinks They Have A Surefire Defense For The Ex-President In Infamous Hush Money Case — But Trump Is Too Terrified Of Melania’s Wrath To Use It

This is HILARIOUS.

Things are getting really messy, really quickly with regard to the infamous Stormy Daniels hush money case. Given that things are heating up so rapidly, with the very real potential of closing in on the former president personally, Trump’s legal team seems to have a surefire defense in mind to help get the scandal-ridden ex-president off the hook, if charges do end up coming down the pike soon. However, according to new reporting from Rolling Stone, Donald Trump has been extremely reluctant to actually use the supposedly fool-proof defense in the case, because he’s apparently terrified of his wife’s ire and wrath if he does.

Sources who spoke with Rolling Stone said that Trump’s legal team is trying to convince the disgraced former president to openly claim that he made the infamous hush money payments to Daniels — the former adult film star who Trump allegedly engaged in an extra-marital affair with — in an effort to protect his marriage with his third wife, Melania Trump, rather than the general consensus that the payments were made in an attempt to pay for her silence amid the 2016 election season, which would, of course, constitute a campaign finance violation.

But it seems Trump is not a fan of this plan at all. Why not? You may be asking. It seems simple and straightforward enough, right? But apparently, according to sources, Trump continues to insist to his wife that the affair with Daniels never actually happened. By using his legal team’s proposed defense, Trump would inadvertently admit that he did, in fact, engage in an extramarital affair with the former adult film star — which would, in turn, likely invoke Melania’s wrath and rage against him.

Former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham spoke with Rolling Stone and said that Trump has a long history of seeming particularly panicked over Melania’s potential reaction to his alleged affair with Daniels, which was said to have taken place just shortly after Melania gave birth to Barron Trump, Trump’s youngest son, and the only child shared between the former president and his third wife.

Grisham claimed, “He at one point called me, after the Stormy Daniels news broke, to ask if we [in the first lady’s office] would be responding to her allegations — and I could tell he was trying to take my temperature to see if his wife was pissed off. He never, ever called me to ask if the East Wing was going to respond to something. Never. And he never did again.”

Of course, this is far from the first burst of steam that the Stormy Daniels scandal has gained in the public’s eye. Trump’s own former personal attorney and self-described “fixer” Michael Cohen actually did a hefty stint in jail or facilitating the hush money payments on his then-boss’ behalf. However, here we are years later, and Donald Trump has seen no charges or culpability for authorizing those hush money payments in the first place.
