As if things weren’t bad enough for the disgraced, one-term, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump, New York Attorney General Letitia James has made sure his new year got a little bit worse.

According to recent reporting from CNN, the New York attorney general’s office has officially issued subpoenas for the two most notable Trump children — his eldest daughter and perceived favorite, Ivanka Trump, as well as his eldest son and namesake, Donald Trump Jr. The Attorney General’s office is reportedly seeking testimony from Trump’s eldest two children in connection to their civil investigation regarding the possibility that former President Trump and the Trump Organization manipulated and misrepresented the values of its various properties in an effort to obtain more favorable loans vs. tax breaks.

The subpoenas were made public via a court filing recently in which the judge set a briefing schedule in an effort “to handle a dispute that has arisen over the subpoenas for Trump’s testimony as well as Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr,” per CNN.

James’ office has already issued a subpoena for the former president himself, with the now passed deadline of January 7th. However, attorneys for ex-president Trump had already made it clear that they intended to quash the subpoena before Donald Trump ever breathes a word.

Upon the original publishing of this article, according to CNN, neither attorneys for Ivanka nor Trump Jr. have responded to a request for comment regarding the new subpoenas. However, since then, lawyers for both of the Trump children have spoken out, making it clear that neither Don Jr. nor Ivanka intends to willingly comply with the AG’s subpoenas.

Eric Trump, Donald’s middle son and an executive vice president within the Trump Organization, has previously been subpoenaed by the New York Attorney General’s office and provided his testimony in the late months of 2020.

In addition to the new Trump children subpoenas, prosecutors with the Manhattan district attorney’s office have conducted various other interviews with additional witnesses to Trump’s potential crimes over the past few weeks. Recently, the New York Attorney General’s office and the district attorney made a big move when they joined forces in a criminal investigation against the ex-president and his company.

CNN reports that representatives for the Trump Organization have been unreachable for comment on the new development.
