Petty Donald Trump Seems To Take Clear-Cut Jab At TX GOP Governor Who Canceled His Appearance At Tonight’s NRA Convention

Does it really get any more immature than this???

Over the last 72 hours, quite a bit of controversy swirled, and rightfully so, over the National Rifle Association convention that is currently taking place in Houston, Texas, as we speak, less than 300 miles away from Uvalde, Texas — the small town where 19 children and 2 teachers lost their lives in a mass murder after 18-year-old high school dropout turned gunman entered Robb Elementary school through an unlocked door, barricaded himself inside a 4th-grade classroom, and opened fire.

Originally, the event was slated to see attendance by numerous notable Republican names — including Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott, TX GOP Senator Ted Cruz, and former President Donald J. Trump himself, as well as multiple other prominent names and even celebrity musicians.

However, in the aftermath of the Uvalde tragedy, the event rightfully saw numerous cancellations by the likes of world-renowned “American Pie” singer Don McLean, who said attending the event on the heels of such a catastrophic event would be “hurtful” and “disrespectful” to the victims and their families, country music stars Lee Greenwood, Larry Gatlin, and T. Graham Brown, and even the manufacturer of the AR-15 style semi-automatic assault rifle that was used by Salvador Ramos in the shooting. In a statement, the Daniel Defense company said they were canceling their attendance at the NRA convention “due to the horrifying tragedy.”

Even Texas’ staunch Republican incumbent Governor Greg Abbott backed away from the NRA event today, choosing to appear via pre-recorded video while he goes to Uvalde for a press conference.

But not Trump, folks. Never Trump.

Not only did the disgraced ex-president attend this evening’s pro-gun event — where he made an absolute mockery out of reading off the names of all the Robb Elementary School victims, mispronouncing many of them as an ominous, dystopian-style death knell bell rang after each and every name — he used his speech to throw some serious shade at the guys who chose not to show. Most namely, it seems, the state’s Republican incumbent governor.

In what we’re sure was an effort to garner some praise for himself, Donald Trump stood on the stage tonight and declared, “Unlike some, I didn’t disappoint you by not showing up. Gotta show up. Gotta show up.”

His little thinly-veiled dig at Abbott and the others who decided to cancel their appearances at the NRA convention unsurprisingly ignited a round of cheers and applause from the crowd. But something tells me 21 families aren’t too impressed by you “showing up,” Donald.
