Politico Claimed That Jim Jordan Was One Of The Lawmakers Who Sent Damning Text To Mark Meadows On Jan. 6th

Is anyone surprised?

At this point, it would be a good idea to ask Republicans who didn’t send a text to Trump’s former chief of staff Mark Meadows to get the former President to call off his mob of supporters as they attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6 to stop the peaceful transition of power — because that would be a shorter list. We found out that Lindsey Graham sent Ivanka Trump a text on the day of the deadly insurrection so she could serve as a conduit to her father to get him to “tell his people to leave” the area.

And now we have Rep. Jim Jordan, who told Politico that he sent Meadows a text on Jan. 6, too. The Ohio Republican’s message was different, though. He appeared to want former Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 election results; however, Jordan claims that it was a forwarding analysis by another attorney — former Pentagon Inspector General Joseph Schmitz.

The outlet published the full contents of the text.

“On January 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence, as President of the Senate, should call out all the electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all — in accordance with guidance from founding father Alexander Hamilton and judicial precedence,” the text reads. ‘No legislative act,’ wrote Alexander Hamilton in Federalist No. 78, ‘contrary to the Constitution, can be valid.’ The court in Hubbard v. Lowe reinforced this truth: ‘That an unconstitutional statute is not a law at all is a proposition no longer open to discussion.’ 226 F. 135, 137 (SDNY 1915), appeal dismissed, 242 U.S. 654 (1916).”’

Politico has questions:

What’s still unclear: Why did Jordan forward this analysis to Meadows? Was it something the former chief of staff solicited? Or did Jordan send it unprompted? Meadows’ attorney George Terwilliger did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

So, Jordan wasn’t trying to get Trump to stop his supporters from hurting anyone by telling them to go home. Instead, he was more interested in keeping the twice-impeached one-term President in power even though he lost to Joe Biden in the popular and electoral vote two months earlier.

And now it’s been over a year since Trump was defeated, and the former President still won’t admit that he lost the 2020 Presidential race. Trump has has a lot of help from Republicans who were trying to desperately keep him in power. These same people take issue with the committee that is investigating the deadly riots. Gee, now we know why.
