Portland Mayor Brutally Slams Trump During Live Press Conference: “What America Needs Is For You To Be Stopped!”

He did not hold back.

Just ahead of his press conference with the police chief, Portland mayor Ted Wheeler addressed the violence that broke out in his city last night. A man that is linked in some manner to the far right-wing group Patriot Prayer was fatally shot Saturday night, and so far, no suspects have been identified. In Portland, protesters have been demonstrating after Jacob Blake — a Black 29-year-old father — was shot in the back seven times by the police. So, Trump supporters drove into the city in a caravan, firing off shots of paintballs and mace at anti-racist demonstrators. Then, one of them was shot dead by an unknown person.

Now, Donald Trump has been at war with Wheeler for some time now, and that’s not too shocking since Trump is at war with just about everyone except for his base of lint-licking stooges. And while Trump liked a tweet this morning defending Kyle Rittenhouse — the 17-year-old accused of shooting two anti-racist protesters dead and injuring another, Democratic nominee Joe Biden condemned the violence on all sides.

This feels like we’re living through an extremely violent soap opera. The president of the United States is stoking racial division amid a number of national crises. Trump is having hategasms amid the chaos that he created, so the mayor let the president have it.

“You’ve tried to divide us more than any other figure in modern history, and now, you want me to stop the violence that you helped create,” Wheeler said. “What America needs is for you to be stopped so that we can come back together as one America.”

“President Trump, you bring no peace,” he continued. “You bring no respect to our democracy. You, Mr. President, need to do your job as the leader of this nation. And I, Mr. President, will do my job as the mayor of this city. And we will both be held accountable, as we should.”

Watch:

Wheeler was visibly angry, and understandably so. I have some issues with the mayor, but certainly not in this instance. It feels like we’ve all been held hostage by an abuse narcissistic rage-machine that doesn’t understand boundaries. The violence has to stop, but Trump seems to think it’s OK if it comes from his base.
