Recently, President Joe Biden sat for an exclusive new interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, serving as the very first guest on the inaugural edition of CNN Tonight with Jake Tapper — where the topic of the president’s only surviving son, Hunter Biden, was brought up, leaving President Joe to vehemently defend his kid.

Hunter has undoubtedly morphed into the Right’s favorite target these days, with attacks and accusations against virtually everything the man does — ranging from his past struggles with drugs and addiction to his mental health to the outlandish and notorious Hunter Biden laptop conspiracy theory.

But President Biden didn’t miss a single beat when it came to defending his only surviving son, and telling the world how truly proud of Hunter he is.

The attacks against the president’s son have recently been reignited with a vengeance after a report claimed that agents involved with investigating Hunter Biden believe that they’ve gathered “sufficient evidence to charge him with tax crimes and a false statement related to a gun purchase.” The Right has, of course, taken off running with this recent news, while many other experts and analysts feel that there’s not actually much to it, at the end of the day.

In fact, even Fox News’ Bret Baier admitted that “these charges are nothings” when it came to the significance of the alleged development if the reporting on the matter is even true at all.

But nevertheless, the matter has become “viral” enough that CNN’s Tapper broached the subject of possible criminal charges against his son with the president during their recent sit-down.

Tapper filled the interview with a variety of questions and conversation but brought up the topic of his son Hunter towards the very end, asking for the president’s reaction to the recently reignited scandal.

President Biden wasted no time in vehemently defending his son.

Mediate published the following transcript of the interview:

TAPPER: Our reporting, CNN’s reporting and ‘The Washington Post’ reporting suggests that prosecutors think they could, they have enough to, charge your son Hunter for tax crimes and a false statement about a gun purchase.

Personally and politically, how do you react to that?

BIDEN: Well, first of all, I’m proud of my son. This is a kid who got, not a kid — he’s a grown man. He got hooked on — like many families have had happen, hooked on drugs. He’s overcome that. He’s established a new life.

He is — I’m confident that he is — what he says and does are consistent with what happens. And for example, he wrote a book about his problems and was straightforward about it. I’m proud of him.

He came along and said, by the way, this thing about a gun — I didn’t know anything about it. But turns out that when he made application to purchase a gun, what happened was he say (ph) — I guess you get asked — I don’t guess, you get asked a question, are you on drugs, or do use drugs? He said no. And he wrote about saying no —

TAPPER: Right.

BIDEN: — in his book. So I have great confidence in my son. I love him and he’s on the straight and narrow, and he has been for a couple years now. And I’m just so proud of him.
