President Zelenskyy Was Not Having It, Brutally Shut Down Newsmax Interviewer Who Tried To Prod Him Into Saying The War Wouldn’t Have Happened If Trump Were Still President

Well, that didn't work out.

One Newsmax reporter essentially got his ass handed to him in a pretty embarrassing sort of way when he attempted to prod Ukrainian President Voldomyr Zelenskyy into publicly stating that Russia’s devastating invasion and war against his country of Ukraine never would have happened if Donald Trump were in the White House. The Newsmax talking host did not get what he was gunning for.

President Zelenskyy sat down for a one-on-one interview with Newsmax talking head/anchor Rob Schmitt yesterday, in the country’s capital of Kyiv, to discuss Russia’s ongoing invasion and attack on Ukraine.

“Do you think that different American leadership, do you think that different Western leadership, may have prevented this aggression?” Schmitt questioned the Ukrainian leader.

“There are many Americans that believe that if somebody like Donald Trump was still in the White House that this invasion would not have happened. What is your position?” the Newsmax host prodded.

But Zelenskyy didn’t give the ultra Right-wing host what he was after. Instead, the Ukrainian president expressed his gratitude for all of the help President Biden has spearheaded for Ukraine, from the US, before pointing out that the most important thing for his country is support from the States, no matter personal political affiliation, or what political party is in power at the time.

“Well, I believe what’s the most important is the assistance from the people of the United States,” Zelenskyy answered. “They are paying the taxes, and the money being allocated to support Ukraine comes from the taxes, and it’s all of that humanitarian, financial, military support to Ukraine. So I am grateful to the current president of the United States as well as to those in the political parties that support us.”

“I am sorry if I’ll be saying something that you don’t like, but for us as the country in war, it doesn’t matter whether it’s Democrats or Republicans. It’s the people of the United States that support us,” the Ukrainian leader added.

Later on in the interview, President Zelenskyy noted, “I don’t know what would happen if the president, if Donald Trump would be the president of the United States for this situation, so I cannot predict what would happen.”

He went on to explain the importance of US institutions such as Congress working the same, regardless of the political party in power, as it’s crucial to keep “the values of the United States.”

Many of the ex-president’s rabid supporters, as well as Trump himself, have regularly asserted that the Russian war against Ukraine, speared by Vladimir Putin himself, never would have even gotten started if the one-term, twice-impeached former guy had remained in power after the 2020 election.

On February 24th, the day that Russian forces invaded Ukraine, Donald Trump publicly stated, “If I were in Office, this deadly Ukraine situation would never have happened!”

Trump was, of course, infamously impeached in the House (for the first time) over his attempts to extort the country of Ukraine and President Zelenskyy into giving him political dirt on his then-opponent Joe Biden by attempting to withhold Congressionally-approved military aide to the country.
