Trump Is Clearly Still Desperate As Ever To Bring NY AG James’ Thundering Investigation To A Halt As He Reportedly Files Frantic Federal Notice Of Appeal

Desperate much, Donnie?

In case you were wondering, ex-President Donald Trump is still every bit as desperate today as he’s ever been.

Last week, Albany US District Court Judge Brenda K. Sannes slapped down the former president’s desperate efforts seeking to completely end New York Attorney General Letitia James’ ongoing investigation into the Trump Organization, under the claim that the probe is politically motivated, and only meant to pad the efforts of the Manhattan District Attorney’s criminal investigation into the same Trump-owned company.

The washed-up former guy wasted absolutely no time in resorting to the next last-ditch effort, filing appellate papers today seeking to overturn the last judge’s ruling and bring James’ 3-year ongoing probe to a screeching halt.

In his new filing, ex-President Trump states that he will implore the next federal court up on the totem pole, the US Court of Appeals, to reverse Sannes’ decision to toss out his lawsuit after James backed up her investigation by maintaining that she has uncovered “substantial evidence” that points to serious financial wrongdoing by the former president’s personal family company.

Business Insider reports on the new development:

Trump and James have been at loggerheads throughout her investigation, which she has said has uncovered a pattern of self-serving misstatements throughout a decade of the former president’s annual financial statements.

Trump has used the allegedly error-riddled statements to secure hundreds of millions of dollars in bank loans and tax breaks.”

The report notes that James has confirmed an impending enforcement action, which will most likely consist of a massive lawsuit against the former US president and his family business, most likely seeking to shut down the Trump Organization entirely.

Over the course of the last two years, Donald Trump has managed to fight, stall, and delay the Attorney General’s investigation through massive stacks of litigation filed in three different New York courthouses.

Trump is also appealing a decision made by a New York State Supreme Court that found him in contempt of court for refusing to comply with subpoenas issued by James’ office for his business documents and electronics.

As it stands, the ex-president has paid a total of $110,000 in accumulated fines to James in connection to his failure to comply. The check remains in escrow as the contempt-of-court appeal continues, while the Attorney General signals that she will seek to raise the fine even higher if the contempt continues.

Trump has not yet confirmed whether he will seek additional appeals against a NY appellate court’s order that he, Ivanka Trump, and Donald Trump, Jr. must sit for sworn depositions in James’ case.
