Presidential Historian Predicts Trump Is In “Deep Trouble” After Polls Shows Half The Country Want Him Impeached

Good God, I hope he's right!

Ever since Trump was busted by a brave whistleblower for his massive scandal involving Ukraine and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s subsequent opening of a formal impeachment inquiry against him, Donald has been screaming from every rooftop from here to Manhattan about the second “Witch Hunt” of his presidency — often peddling the claim that this impeachment fiasco has done nothing but help his chances for reelection in 2020.

However, Donald Trump is wrong.

Recent polls are now showing that a staggering 50 percent of Americans that responded want to see Trump not only impeached but removed from office as well — and presidential historian Douglas Brinkley has predicted “deep trouble” for Donnie as a result.

Brinkley discussed the matter during a segment with CNN anchor John Avlon in which the two examined the support for Trump’s impeachment in comparison to that of former presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, whose polling trends were rather different than Donald’s.

Support for Trump’s impeachment and removal has held steady at 50 percent since October — a rather staggering uptick from the 36 percent support back in the spring. However, support for Nixon’s impeachment didn’t reach the level of Trump’s until the same month he resigned, while Clinton’s never broke 35 percent.

During the segment with Avlon, Brinkley explained just exactly what he thought this could mean for the current POTUS.

“It just tells you what deep trouble Donald Trump’s in,” Brinkley explained. “I mean, when you have 50 percent of the country wanting you – not just impeached – but removed from office, and the game hasn’t even gotten fast yet,” the historian continued, “I think when the vote’s taken by Congress to impeach him, and he’s wearing the ‘I’ on his chest, you’re going to see that movement grow even more.”

The presidential historian went on to point out that the poll results “tells you he doesn’t have a lot of friends. He’s a base politician. He doesn’t know how to turn this around” before adding that he believes the “charges of corruption [against Trump] are just deep and real.” He also claimed that he foresees the impeachment proceedings bearing a significant, negative impact on Donald’s chances for reelection in 2020.

While it’s becoming increasingly clear that the American public wants this man out of the White House for good, and his impeachment by the House is virtually a slam dunk at this point, there’s still a very good chance that Donald’s GOP controlled Senate will leave us highly disappointed in the end. We can only hope that they rule on the side of justice.
