Congress passed a $900 billion bill for coronavirus aid and a $1.4 trillion government funding plan, sending it to President Donald Trump, who, while at his fancy pants resort in Florida, refuses to sign it while millions of Americans are about to watch their unemployment benefits expire. In his Twitter feed, Trump claims that he opposes the $600 payments for Americans and supports giving $2,000 instead, but he also ties that in with repealing Section 230 because Twitter hurt his feelings.
At this point, Republicans who oppose the $2,000 payments while previously supporting tax cuts for the wealthy need to sit in a corner and think about that bad thing they did. Republicans like Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, for example, who is so out of touch, he has failed to represent the people of his state.
The Kentucky Republican reiterated his opposition to any direct payments. “I think giving money to people, though, who are already working—look, my kids are working and don’t need a check. They’re not rich, but they don’t need a check. And most working Americans don’t need a check right now,” Senator Paul said on Fox & Friends.

Well, since Rand Paul’s children don’t need stimulus relief, then no one does! Problem solved. I suppose Congress should meet with Paul’s children on the pandemic to see what the American people really need amid multiple national crises. Rand Paul should ask the cashier at his local grocery store working for minimum wage what he or she thinks about that.
According to Open Secrets, Rand Paul’s estimated net worth in 2018 was $773,520, and that’s a nice sum of money, something struggling Americans do not have. As for “working” Americans, relief is certainly needed since the coronavirus pandemic has presented the working class with economic hardships. Meanwhile, the federal government will run out of money at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday if Donald Trump refuses to sign the bill as he spends the holidays in Florida at Mar-a-Lago. I suppose we should ask Rand Paul’s children what to do about that, too.
