Recently, we reported that Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert’s 2nd Amendment-themed restaurant, Shooters, was facing down the very real prospect of soon being shuttered for good after new owners, Milken Enterprises, purchased and took over the building that housed the gun-filled eatery, and they apparently had absolutely no interest in renewing the lease for Boebert and her husband.

According to new reporting from PostIndependent.com, that day has finally come.

After several years of running the gun-themed restaurant with her husband, Jayson Boebert, Lauren’s Shooters Grill was officially shuttered today, after the couple failed to secure a lease on the building moving forward.

Reporting claims that Boebert called to beg the new owners to allow her and her eatery to stay in the building but “there wasn’t really much wiggle room or anywhere to compromise unless we bought the building ourselves.”

Lauren was quick to note that she wasn’t technically evicted from the building that housed her 2nd Amendment-themed eatery, “The lease is not being renewed — that’s a big difference.”

But nevertheless, Shooters Grill is officially no more, and apparently, they shut down shop with a seriously bizarre parting message to their customers and supporters on their last day in business.

“Thanks for the support. Stay Tuned #Covfefe,” read a chalkboard sign in the doorway of Shooters Grill today. The hashtag on the sign references a bizarre, now infamous tweet typo made by Donald Trump years ago that’s earned him mockery for ages to come. However, it’s entirely unclear what it has to do with Congresswoman Boebert or her shuttered restaurant.

Lauren said she isn’t sure what’s next for her restaurant career, but said she wants to continue with her 2nd Amendment-themed brand in some way or another.

“We would just dramatically scale it back, because, obviously, we’re not in our building,” Boebert said of her future plans. “It may look like a Shooters coffee shop with pastries and some easy breakfast sandwiches and merchandise.”

The controversial Republican lawmaker claimed she originally started the eatery to give jobs to female inmates at the Garfield County Jail, where they could “trade their shame for glory.”

The restaurant eventually evolved into the gun-toting theme she boasted at the time of closure after Lauren claimed someone was heated to death outside the building. Fact-checks have determined that Boebert’s claims are unsurprisingly untrue, and the individual in question actually reportedly died of a methamphetamine overdose.

“Most carry semi-automatics, because that’s what we practiced with,” Boebert said of her now-former armed employees.

All I can say is, perhaps now all those people who worked for her can go find a job where they actually get paid properly, with a boss who doesn’t spend their paychecks on a boob job.
