Report Claims COVID Relief Funds Were Used To Support Barron Trump’s Prestigious Private School

Barron Trump's private education is apparently more important than small businesses that support American jobs.

Despite federal funds from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) being geared towards small businesses, it turns out that a private school currently attended by President Donald Trump’s son Barron received money from it — even though it enjoys private endowments from wealthy benefactors.

The original PPP funds dried up quickly as corporations and other entities lined up to grab a piece of the pie despite not qualifying as small businesses and being far from struggling.

Trump adviser Larry Kudlow’s wife, for instance, was able to apply for funding from the program even though she is an independent “artist” who has millions of dollars.

But it appears that Barron Trump’s private school also secured funds through the program despite his daddy claiming that he disapproves of private schools with large endowments receiving the money.

“The president has made it clear that he does not believe private schools with significant endowments should be receiving PPP money and those that have should consider returning it,” Trump spokesperson Judd Deere said in a statement.

Nevertheless, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Maryland applied for and received PPP funds.

“[We] applied for PPP funds through our longstanding bank to ensure retention of our full faculty and staff, including hourly employees and coaches, during this very challenging and uncertain time,” the school said in a statement. “We feel fortunate to have received funds that will allow us to maintain our promise to support our employees and to help school families facing hardship remain at St. Andrew’s next year. We hope every other nonprofit and small business is able to access PPP support.”

And it doesn’t appear the school has returned the money it took, thus depriving small businesses of desperately needed funding and forcing taxpayers to pick up the tab on yet another round of PPP funds.

It should be noted that the private school attended by the children of former Presidents Obama and Clinton also received PPP funds. But their kids had already graduated and were not in the school system. Barron Trump is currently enrolled at St. Andrew’s, so it looks like favoritism toward the school by President Trump if the private institution is allowed to keep the cash.

Taxpayer dollars should not be used to fund private schools, especially private schools that already benefit from large endowments from wealthy individuals and organizations. Many struggling small businesses could have used that money, and this is yet another example of the wealthy robbing the poor.
